Jamshedpur, Sept. 7: The buzz was loud and tension ran high today at RVS Academy in Mango where the Zonal ICSE & ISC Inter-school Quiz took place.

Sixty-two students of 19 schools participated for the junior section of the quiz, while the same number of students participated in the senior section, which was open to 12 schools.

After a preliminary round, comprising a written test, six teams reached the finals of the junior and senior sections of the quiz.

Loyola, Kerala Samajam Model, Carmel Junior College, Little Flower School, JH Tarapore and RVS Academy reached the final round in the junior section of the quiz.

Senior finalists included Loyola School, DBMS English School, Carmel Junior College, Little Flower, Kerala Samajam and RVS Academy.

An interesting aspect of the quiz was the trail blazer round, which was dedicated to logical reasoning.

Then there were sections dedicated to India and mythology, technology and music (maximum volume was an audio-visual round).

“One of my favourite question is the similarity between Lagaan and Krrish. The answer is that both were taken as case studies by IIM, Ahmedabad, to study human behaviour,” said Mayukh Mitra, the quizmaster.

The school made it a point to maintain complete transparency while conducting the quiz. Teachers were given a copy of the quiz questions and answers and were given answer sheets of participating teams, which did not carry any code or names to distinguish them, to check.

Loyola won the junior section, followed by Kerala Samajam and Carmel Junior College.

In the senior section, Kerala Samajam grabbed the first spot followed by DBMS English and Little Flower.

Winners will now take part in the regional quiz contest.
